Program Overview

The requirements for existing buildings in Ohio's building code has included a Chapter 34 since the 1980s. The 2024 edition of the code will include the International Code Council's Existing Building Code with modifications to incorporate Ohio provisions. While the intent is to continue with many of the principles that the Ohio code has used, the inclusion of many new options with the code can be very confusing.

This program includes an overview of the new code and how it can and should be applied by architects dealing with existing buildings. Using the code correctly can save buildings, help improve the preservation of existing structures that can provide significant savings of energy, materials and resources, while maintaining important community textures and population.

Presented by AIA Cincinnati’s Academy and AIA Dayton.
