Resources

The American Institute of Architects is the largest, most influential network of architecture professionals. Our members share a passion for architecture and a desire to change the world through the power of design.

AIA offers resources to build a career in architecture, enhance professional practice, and advance the architecture profession. The AIA Trust develops and offers insurance and benefit programs while serving as a risk management resource for AIA members. AIAU offers on-demand and live continuing education and professional development opportunities. AIA’s Knowledge Communities and Member Groups provide national networks around special interests and practice sectors. For recent graduates and interns working toward licensure, AIA offers resources to prepare for the ARE. AIA Contract Documents can be obtained from AIA Columbus or AIA Dayton (937-291-1913).

State Resources

AIA Ohio advocates for the profession of architecture at the state level, including hosting a legislative day at the Ohio Statehouse each year and managing a PAC. Their C.A.R.E.S program provides scholarships for the ARE. AIA Ohio also hosts state-wide design awards and honor awards annually. AIA Ohio also maintains a virtual library of resources for members at all levels of practice. Ohio firms are encouraged to apply for the Early Professional Friendly Firm Designation. AIA Ohio’s 2023 Annual Report is online.

Local Resources

AIA Cincinnati provides architecture graduates and practicing architects with continuing education programs, local career opportunities, and information on state and national resources. We also work to connect architects with municipalities in our nine southwestern Ohio counties who may need assistance with planning and zoning boards, task forces, or other opportunities related to the built environment. Our Urban Design Committee works with communities on planning workshops to help stakeholders start initiating the changes they want to see.

AIA Cincinnati is a resource for community members looking to find and hire an architect or interested in learning why Architecture Matters.
