Program Overview
In addition to mass timber and daylighting to create a welcoming and sustainable broadcasting facility, the new Cincinnati Public Radio building features a high performance building envelope. Adam Luginbill of emersion design will lead a one-hour tour of the building and will discuss the envelope design and detailing and its impact on other building systems as well as the building’s overall operational energy.
The building design demonstrates welfare for the environment through sustainable design and focus on envelope performance. The building envelope was designed to exceed code minimum in order to reduce the building’s operational energy. This approach impacted the selection of mechanical systems. The exterior assemblies were tested to ensure performance targets would be achieved and occupant comfort and health would not be negatively impacted. Additionally, the performance and testing of the envelope help achieve LEED Gold certification on the project.
