What's the best thing you watched/saw in 2021?
Both seasons of The Morning Show. It was a revelation to see every single character trapped in the need for external validation. It made me realize how much we do that is out of alignment in our own lives because we feel we have to.
What's the best thing you heard in 2021?
Shameless plug here- my podcast Architecting. Episode 1 aired January 4 2021.
What's the best thing you read in 2021?
Effortless: Make It Easier to Do What Matters Most by Greg McKeown Because our profession is plagued by busyness.

What's the best thing you watched/saw in 2021?
I’ve enjoyed watching the NBC series This Is Us. It’s about the way life's rich pageant takes you in unforeseen directions. That’s something you don’t realize when you’re younger and in the moment. Another plus is that the family members are Steelers fans. Having grown up near Pittsburgh, I can relate to that. That being said, "Go Bengals!”
What's the best thing you heard in 2021?
Brood X Cicadas. It’s astonishing that there are creatures emerge by the millions like clockwork every 17 years then “sing" like the continuing existence of their species depends on it.
What's the best thing you read in 2021?
A Brief History of Everyone Who Ever Lived by Adam Rutherford, PhD. It’s an accounting of how the broad spectrum of humankind is actually closely related and most of us are part Neanderthal.
What are you most looking forward to in 2022?
Seeing more smiling faces. Hopefully the COVID situation will become more manageable and we’ll be happy that we can gather together to share that existential human experience.
Stephanie Crockett, Associate AIA, LEED Green Associate
AIA Cincinnati Associate Director
What’s the best thing you watched/saw in 2021?
The best thing that I watched in 2021 was Squid Game. The psychological thriller was popular among many, including myself!
What's the best thing you heard in 2021?
The best thing I heard in 2021 was Stacy Abrams speaking at AIA Grassroots 2021.
What's the best thing you read in 2021?

What are you most looking forward to in 2022?
I look forward to becoming a licensed architect this year.
Chris Patek, AIA

What's the best thing you watched/saw in 2021?
Ted Lasso (Season 1 better than Season 2). Great message and super entertaining. Plus I am a huge soccer/football fan.
What's the best thing you heard in 2021?
Several podcasts of interest. Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard. As far as music, my older son introduced me to Jacob Collier who is pretty amazing.
What's the best thing you read in 2021?
Most of the books I read are with my two sons, so they tend to be teenage coming-of-age stories (read what you know I guess). Two really impactful stories, also with great messages, were Rebound by Kwame Alexander and Peak by Roland Smith.
What are you most looking forward to in 2022?
Spending more time in-person with family and friends and having the chance to interact and connect more with one another.
Michael R. Mauch, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP

What's the best thing you watched/saw in 2021?
Yellowstone for its portrayal of environmentalism vs. development or “progress.” Close second: Peter Jackson’s Get Back on the making of the Beatles album ‘Let it Be.’ Very analogous to the architecture design process.
What's the best thing you heard in 2021?
The silence. Just didn’t get enough of it.
What's the best thing you read in 2021?
My news feeds and blogs I read every morning, connecting the dots.
