Program Overview

This roundtable will bring together community members, design professionals, to discuss the current planning and zoning landscape in Hyde Park. The goal is to understand the existing zoning ordinance and approval processes, explore how planning and urban decisions are made, and identify opportunities for improving these systems.

Space is limited and registration is required.

Objectives

  • Understand current zoning ordinance applicable to Hyde Park.

  • Clarify how planning and urban design decisions are made at the city and neighborhood level.

  • Discuss strengths and challenges within the current system.

  • Explore successful models from other cities that have improved zoning, planning processes, or community engagement.

  • Identify possible next steps for improving local systems and shaping a collective vision for Hyde Park’s future.

Format

This will be a roundtable discussion, emphasizing open dialogue rather than formal presentations. All participants will have the opportunity to share perspectives, ask questions, and contribute to a collaborative conversation.

Outcome

Following the discussion, we will prepare a brief summary of the key insights and individual viewpoints shared during the roundtable.

About AIA Cincinnati’s Urban Design Community

The Urban Design Community has had a busy year, starting with a hard-hat tour of the Convention Center, partnering with Women in Architecture on a walking tour of Mariemont, and facilitating a lively panel discussion on possible sites for a new arena

As 2026 planning gets underway, UDC wants to hear from you! What burning topics in urban design need to be addressed? What projects or communities do you want to learn more about/tour? What ideas do you have to get more people talking about urban design issues? Please join us to discuss. If you can’t make the meeting please email us your ideas or share on our LinkedIn Group.
