Program Overview

Join us as RWA and Drawing Dept give insight into their process creating their 2025 CRANawards winning projects. RWA will be presenting their New Custom Home – Traditional winning project: Quintessential Lakeside Retreat. Drawing Department will be presenting their New Custom Home – Modern winning project In a Modern Manor. Guests will have the opportunity to understand how site conditions and programmatic requirements were utilized to inform the design.

BONUS CONTENT - Preparing for award submissions

After hearing about 2025 CRANaward winning projects, get tips on how to prepare your projects for award submissions from 2025 CRANaward juror Mark Ashler, AIA and GBBN’s Marketing Manager Melanie Pliskin. Mark will discuss what juries look for in a submission and Melanie will share best practices for planning and preparing submissions.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the importance of initial site planning and coordination with the authority having jurisdiction prior to initiating the design phase to ensure a successful project.

  • Be able to identify space planning strategies and material selections necessary to provide a home that will accommodate aging in place.

  • Identify ‘site forces’ and their potential to act as a primary architectural design influence and generator of form.  

  • Understand the role that traditional types and styles of architecture can play in a modern reinterpretation that simultaneously respects the past while representing the realities of the present.
