2021 SAIDWorks! (In Person)
In addition to supporting the University of Cincinnati’s Summer CAMP program and AIA Cincinnati, the program fee includes box lunches and parking (for two vehicles in the DAAP Clifton Court garage).
Reservation deadline and three slides for Preview Event are due before 5pm on Friday, September 10, 2021. Due to limited presentation space, reservations will be regarded as first-come first-served and could potentially be closed by this date.
About SAIDWorks!
As part of the AIA Cincinnati community and the UC Alumni network, we invite you to participate in the 25th installment of SAIDWorks!. This year we return to an in-person event that fosters important connections between our up-and-coming architects and the outstanding greater Cincinnati architecture community.
Here is how SAIDWorks! will look this year:
The Preview Event where firms introduce themselves to SAID students will take place on Thursday, September 16, 5:00-6:30pm.
Students will immediately sign up for portfolio reviews with participating firms.
Participating firms will arrive early on Friday, September 17, and be set up by 8:30am.
Portfolio reviews will take place Friday, September 17, from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
Preview Event
Thursday, September 16, 2021 // 5:00pm – 6:30pm
Each participating firm will have a representative present a live, three-minute introduction about the firm and its co-op experiences. Firms interested in having slides to accompany their presentation must submit them before 5pm on Friday, September 10, 2021. The audience will consist of over 120 SAID (School of Architecture and Interior Design) students who are seeking a co-op job opportunity. Many will be seeking their first UC co-op, so in your firm introduction, please include a word of advice for someone seeking their first UC co-op. There will be time for questions from the students at the end of the program.
Students will sign up for time portfolio review time slots immediately following the Preview Night presentations.
Portfolio Reviews
Friday, September 17, 2021 // 9:00am –1:00pm
During portfolio reviews, you will be reviewing their work and offering advice on how they can improve their portfolios.
Firms will have eight (8), 30-minute time slots to meet students for Portfolio Reviews. During each time slot one or two students will be having their portfolio reviewed. The students would like your advice on how they can improve their portfolios as they prepare to begin their job search for their first UC co-op or their first co-op in the Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Bachelor of Interior Design, or Master of Architecture program.
Each firm will have an 8′ x 8′ (+/-) area to display. A 6′ x 2’ rectangular table and four (4) chairs will be placed at your area — two (2) of them for students. Firms are expected to conduct back-to-back 25-minute portfolio reviews per student sign-up sheets at the event with a five-minute break in between. Firms may bring backdrop displays, pull-up panels, easels & boards, etc. Electricity for laptops will be available. Feel free to hand out brochures, cards, and other marketing material.
