Program Overview
As technology becomes an integral part of modern residential design, architects and interior designers must consider its impact early in the planning process. This course explores how to successfully integrate home technology systems including media, lighting, security, networking, and automation into a residential project. Participants will learn how to collaborate with technology professionals to plan infrastructure, specify equipment, and coordinate with subcontractors, ensuring systems are safe, reliable, and intuitive for occupants. Key topics include user interface design, electrical and conduit requirements, ventilation, framing considerations, commissioning, and long-term maintenance. By the end of the course, design professionals will be equipped to deliver homes that seamlessly integrate technology while enhancing occupant comfort, safety, and wellbeing, supporting sustainable and future-ready living environments.
