Program Overview

Mariemont is a planned community in Cincinnati, Ohio, known for its unique architectural styles and historical significance. This walking tour will explore the village's design, influenced by Mary Emery and the Garden City movement, featuring Tudor Revival, Colonial Revival, and other styles. Participants will learn about Mariemont's history, development, and architectural principles. A key focus will be on the contributions of women in architecture, particularly the Boston-based firm of MIT alumnae Lois Lilley Howe and Eleanor Manning, who played a crucial role in designing Mariemont. Highlighting the impact of women in architecture and the importance of diversity in design. The tour includes visits to key landmarks, residential areas, and historical spaces, providing insights into the village's design and its impact on community life.

This tour includes a LOT of walking so please wear comfortable shoes, attire, and sunscreen.

Registration is limited. Tour registration proceeds will be donated to the Mariemont Historical Society.

An optional social will follow the tour.
