Program Overview

Design review boards are a sensitive topic. Cincinnati used its Urban Design Review Board actively from the 1960's until shortly after 2020 to maintain alignment with the City's adopted plans of various eras. Other cities such as Pittsburgh and Seattle use a Design Review Board or peer review processes, whether advisory or quasi-judicial.

We'll discuss the UDRB history and how the City currently does design review through other commissions and processes.

Why is it a good time to have this conversation? Would evolution of the current process successfully enhance the design quality of our built environment? What are the skills for such a review panel or review process look like, and at what phase should projects be reviewed to be most constructive?

Join us for a lively conversation with this panel and AIA Cincinnati's Urban Design Committee!
