What inspires you and why/how?
Inspiration comes to me in many forms: it can be the simplicity of the vernacular Ohio barn, the complex cultural critiques found in Dostoyevsky, or the uplifting nature of a good conversation. In my mind, inspiration is exploring the world and understanding it in new and deeper ways.
Of your recent projects, which is your favorite and why?
I am currently working on a kitchen and covered porch addition for a very neat craftsman house. Designing additions to well-crafted buildings provides the honor of building upon those who came before us and the challenge of creating something simultaneously new and cohesive.
What do you consider your strongest skill?
Quickly distilling ideas.
What do you love most about what you do?
I love building relationships with and serving my clients. I love seeing the details of a project come together to make a theoretical idea become real. Like the Colonel, "I love it when a plan comes together!"
When you’re not being an architect, what do you enjoy doing?
Playing soccer; Reading history and philosophy.
