December 2023 Chapter President’s letter
A personal letter from Angela Mazzi, FAIA, FACHA, EDAC reflecting on the past year
2023 has been a building year for AIA Cincinnati.
We’ve put a spotlight on issues you care about like advocacy and community presence. I hope you appreciated some of the joint programs we did among committees and through community partnerships with the Cincinnati Museum Center, CAC, and Soapbox. We stepped up our profiling of members with a series of interviews with our women members. You might also have been part of COTE, our newest committee. We had several sold out tours, including one of a passive house and Music Hall. We celebrated great design at our awards programs. And of course we had fun at events like our golf scramble and clay shooting outings.
Forging a stronger connection with local leaders and politicians has also been a focus. We’ve written numerous letters to regional municipalities to make them aware of AIA as a resource, and supported Cincinnati issues like accessory dwelling units and the Bridge Forward initiative.
I’m curious what programs and events resonated the most with you. Which ones were on your “go no matter what” list? If you did attend an event, what did you like most about it?
We have some very cool programs for 2024 planned, but they can only be successful if you attend. Don’t forget to bring a friend.
Make sure you follow us on social media—LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook—all are great platforms for information and help us share the story behind program planning, speakers, what happened, and more.
It’s been an honor to serve as your president this year. I hope you have fond memories to look back on from one of our over 50 programs that took place. Whether you needed to learn something at an Academy program, found the right networking or mentoring opportunity, or celebrated with us, we appreciated you. I’m excited to be able to turn things over to 2024 President Zoe Gizara. I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming AIA Cincinnati program.
Happy holidays, I wish you all the best in 2024!
