KLH Engineers Offers Cost-Saving Autodesk® Revit® Tools to A/E Firms
Kohrs Lonnemann Heil Engineers, Inc. (KLH Engineers), a national mechanical, electrical, plumbing and technology engineering firm, is now offering four new subscription-based sets of software tools for Autodesk® Revit®: the General, Mechanical, Electrical and Model Management bundles. An Autodesk Authorized Developer since 2020, KLH Engineers began developing tools to customize Revit, thus enabling design teams to reduce modeling times, enhance quality and increase profitability. Last year, the 141-person firm saved 16.5 percent of its direct cost of services by optimizing workflows with its tools.
“At KLH, we're redefining the tools of the trade to empower the entire AEC industry," said Jim Tavernelli, president and CEO. "Our journey into developing custom Revit solutions was born from a vision to break free from the inefficiencies that have long plagued our field. Our custom tools are the product of years of development and fine-tuning, and we're excited to offer them to our peers in the industry. By sharing our innovations, we're enabling engineers, architects and contractors to harness the full potential of BIM, fostering a new era of efficiency and data-driven decision-making that benefits us all.”
While the Mechanical and Electrical bundles are primarily focused on improving engineering workflows and enhancing quality, the General and Model Management bundles contain tools agnostic to any discipline and customizable to architects.
For example, Bulk Parameter Editor, a tool within the General Bundle, allows users to create custom filters to edit parameters of specific families and types in bulk, and quickly select or locate elements in the model based on a quick parameter search. This tool can also be used in conjunction with Match to easily select all the desired elements in the model. In addition, Match enables users to copy parameters and tags from a parent element and quickly apply them to other elements. Depending on the size of the model, this could potentially save hours.
The Model Management Bundle contains two tools designed to standardize workflows, improve quality and reduce model setup time. The Model Management Assistant enables model managers to set up models correctly and consistently to benefit all downstream users. They can also quickly copy view locations and revisions from active sheets and apply them in bulk to other sheets with the Sheet/View Editor.
A free 30-day trial of all four bundles are available for download on KLH Engineers’ website and the Autodesk App Store. The tiered subscriptions are based on the number of users and renew annually. An ROI calculator is available on the website to quantify potential dollars and time saved for each of the bundles. Training and support includes an introductory two-hour training session, unlimited access to online instructional videos and email support.
In addition to the product bundles, KLH Engineers offers custom software engineering and consulting services. The firm conducts discovery calls and on-site visits to tailor recommendations to client software and process needs.
Furthermore, KLH Engineers is utilizing machine learning to provide clients a 2D AutoCAD® to 3D Revit model conversion service. Models are converted up to five times faster than traditional conversion methods, enhancing design team productivity. The firm continues to leverage emerging trends in technology and the influence they will have on the AEC industry.
