It’s probably safe to say that most architects didn’t choose the profession to become salespeople. It may even be true that doing sales is a necessary evil to get to do the work you’re passionate about - designing beautiful, functional spaces. This session will show you how to tap into your passion for design so you can communicate the true value you deliver to your clients in a compelling way while creating a professional sales approach that will produce consistent results.

Structural design is an important part of building design. Architects who do not frequently do this work and engage structural engineers to perform the task may find the designs presented seem somewhat esoteric. This course will present three key factors which together inform all aspects of structural design, an understanding of which removes some of the mystery.
This course, led by the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), provides a detailed examination of how the condition of historic windows is assessed within the framework of the Historic Tax Credit Program. The presentation will tie in National Park Service Brief 9, focusing on the standards and practices for window restoration and rehabilitation. Attendees will learn how these evaluations influence decisions about restoration, replacement, and repair, ensuring compliance with preservation standards while addressing modern building performance expectations.
